Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect at the first appointment?
The first appointment, also referred to an an "intake," is scheduled for 60 minutes. We ask that both of the parents and child be present for the first session. Your clinician will spend time talking with you and your child, both separately and together. The intake session involves gathering background information, including but not limited to developmental history, family relationships, past and present behaviors, educational history, medical history, treatment history, etc. The intake session is also an opportunity for you to get to know your treating psychologist as well as ask questions. Diagnostic impressions will be provided along with treatment recommendations.
Please come prepared with the CAPP Background Questionnaire, Registration Form, AND the appropriate Consent Form completed (see Client Forms section). Also, please note that for children with divorced parents who share joint custody, BOTH parents MUST be present and consent to treatment.
